ACTing my ART [2025]

'Amor fati' - Neitzche

An artist must be kind; to others and to themselves

An artist has the 'right to pass'

An artist must treat their body with respect

An artist dares to bring something new to the world

An artist faces up to monsters and demons, and invites them over for tea and Tim Tams

An artist must sleep well, eat healthily and ask for support and help every day

Perfectionism can be Very Dangerous; an artist must develop a flexible mindset

An artist can learn skills to be a Bold Warrior; not a Worrier

An artist might like to pick one practice and stick to it for a very, very long time to achieve mastery; or not

An artist is one in a very, very long line of artists in the world

An artist may observe their own thoughts and be confident that place of safety or 'self-as-context' * is always available and use the 'choice point' *

An artist CARES, but can learn to prioritise values and use of energy and resources

An artist uses old symbols and creates new ones

An artist is often conflicted between the need to push boundaries and the desire to provide guidance

An artist uses their senses, is sensual, sensitive and sees

An artist does not have all the time in the world! So must get on with it

An artist needs good friends

Jill Turner Arts

I acknowledge the traditional custodians throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. I pay my respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures, and to Elders both past and present.
