Biography

Jill Turner (b. 1971) is a British born, Australian artist with an evolving sketching, painting and writing practice. Jill aims to explore and celebrate the beauty, diversity and developing identity of Western Australia and the humans that call it home.

Her arts practice is informed by extensive global travel and 30 years working in health promotion (London, UK), youth and community development and occupational therapy.

As a compass, Jill has a personal commitment to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals THE 17 GOALS | Sustainable Development 

She has been married for 30 years to Martin. They were both 'student reps' at Royal Holloway, University of London. They have two grown up boys, Alex and Josh, who live nearby and a large extended family in Perth and Albany.

Jill has been recovering from severe lung disease caused by covid /complications from pneumonia, through designing and persisting with an idiopathic creative OT Plan and is enjoying her artistic learning journey!

I acknowledge the traditional custodians throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. I pay my respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures, and to Elders both past and present.
